Watch ANY Online Videos/TV (PPStream, PPLive etc) on TV via DLNA

Sometimes, we can’t get the streaming source for online videos, TV shows, and Live TV so as to send it to TV via DLNA using a DLNA server such as TVersity.

For online TV like PPStream, PPLive, these popular Chinese online TV software, there were some methods introduced using VLC: Link 1Link 2, and Link 3. The idea is this. VLC captures the online streaming, and generates a secondary streaming, which is taken by TVersity and shared on the local network. But it seems none of these works for me for uusee, pplive and ppstream, since I can’t find the streaming source for these software.

Streaming the whole screen will be an ultimate method that can work with any media source via DLNA streaming.

More details about VLC and TVersity can be found here: and

Here is how it’s done.

VLC can capture the screen using screen://. But it turns out it can’t capture audio simultaneously using input-slave: dshow://. The workaround would be to use DirecShow with a directshow filter, such as VH Screen Capture.

VH screen captures video or audio only in MP4. But both captured, video is not shown, even though MediaInfo shows video data is stored. For DIV3+MP3 (asf), VH can’t see video at all, even though video data was also stored. Without transcoding, output .asf file is fine. But the data file is so big, and VLC crashes soon. The picture captured in MP4 are really great. It’s the best picture I’ve got compared to other ways mentioned here.

UScreenCapture works fine with DIV3+mp3(asf) and MP4. But the picture quality is a lot worse, even if using larger BitRate and generate big data file. Anyway, for the time being, by using directshow (UScreenCapture), video and audio can be both captured.

Another problem is my SoundMax HD audio sound card doesn’t have Stereo Mix. So I use a stereo audio cable to connect my speaker and mic ports, sending sound from the speaker to mic directly. VLC captures the audio from the microphone.

If you can see your screen, but not the video, you may need disable the hardware accelaration, which can be found at the property of your graphics.

I make the streaming using the VLC GUI. I select the video and audio sources, transcode it to DIV3+MP3, 25fps, 4096 kbps, and then stream it to mms:// or, which is further shared by TVersity. Then I can watch on my Samsung HDTV anything on PC. It works great, particular for PPStream that I use it very often.

This way, I don’t need worry about that the media type for TVersity or Samsung TV any more. Whatever I can see on PC, I can see it on TV.

** When using VLC, try to transcode with some codecs that are natively supported by your TV. Then TVersity doesn’t need do another transcoding. That will work much better.

Stream computer desktop to TV using DLNA, TVersity and VLC

1. What’s going on with TV?

People want their TV with more features, like internet ready, apps, web browser etc. All these extra features are basically already there on computers. Now they want a combination. Basically they want a computerized TV or a TV = TV + PC + Internet.

This is exactly what happened in the handset/phone field, Phone = game player = Handset/PDA = GPS = MP3 player = Video player = Camera/Camcorder = Book reader = Photo frame = web browser = Email browser = … = Computer! This is revolution. One is everything. Basically one thing is a PC that can of course install a lot of apps and has WIFI with extra physically dedicated features such as phone, camera, gps.

This is what’s happening now in TV field. TV companies put a dedicated board (a computer) inside their TVs to make theirs TV = TV + PC. Apple, google make some dedicated box (a computer) sitting beside the TV. Question is why bother making new things, why not just buy a netbook or any cheap desktop PC and connected to TV? The reason is this. A dedicated unit is fancier, and it can be made small, fast, and even put inside TV. It can be made so because it is only used for TV, so it doesn’t need that good quality/much cost to include all those redundant hardware/software.

2. PC to TV

For the time being, TV is not as powerful as PC yet. So sometimes, we want to stream signal from PC to TV. The specific purpose of streaming desktop to TV can be varied for people. One common reason is basically you want to see something  on TV that you can see on PC. This is the exact reason why Internet-ready/connected TV is so popular, Apple TV and google TV are so popular.

For the time being, I don’t have such a powerful TV. I have a samsung LN40c650 LCD HDTV that is internet-ready, with apps and DLNA certified. It is a nice TV, but still not as powerful as computer.

Now I want to see online TV on my TV. What can I do?

There are a variety of ways to send signal from PC to TV.

1) Connect with Video/Audio cables directly, e.g. VGA,DVI,HDMI etc. This is the simplest way. It makes good video/audio quality. But I have to move my PC and make the connection every time. It is not very convenient.

2) Connect wirelessly with PC to TV video/audio transmitters. This is good. But the devices are over $100, which is expensive to me.

3) DLNA, through network. This is compromised way, but doable. DLNA is more and more popular due to its convenience to share media within various devices. But through network, the quality is not that great. The speed is also an issue. There is a tradeoff between media quality and speed. It varies with the hardware.

In my case, I want to try DLNA, since the source media online is not great already. Using TVersity, I can get photos, audios, and videos on my computer, and online such as youtube, and even live TV such as For more details about this, please refer to another post:

The question is: can I watch online TV like PPStream, PPLive etc (Chinese) on TV, which are not natively supported by DLNA?

There are some methods introduced using VLC: Link 1, Link 2, and Link 3. But it seems none of these works for me for uusee, pplive and ppstream, since I can’t find the streaming source for these software.

3. Stream Desktop to TV

Now I moved to this method that streams desktop to TV, which is universal.

The new VLC version has a feasture to live stream desktop: screen://.

You can create a desktop streaming using VLC to localhost, such as mms:// Then you can add this live streaming media into TVersity library.

Now you can just watch this “video” on your TV through DLNA (samsung Media Player).

Of course you could also use another live streaming software if available. In principle, this can do the work. The quality and speed might be an issue. It is an issue to me for the time beining. But as least, this provides a possibility.

p.s. screen:// doesn’t actually work for video+audio YET. Please check another post here to see how to make it.

XPSViewer stopped working

I’m using win XP. I have IE and firefox. But firefox was set to the default internet browser. When I try to open an .xps file that I just created, firefox retarts and it asked me to download or open in a popup window.

Actually, this is just a file type association problem. Right now, .xps is associated with “C:\WINDOWS\system32\XPSViewer\xpsviewer.exe”. If you just want to open this xps file, you can restart IE, then drag the .xps file to IE or open the file from menu->file->open ….  If you want solve this problem permanently. Another words, if you want to open xps file directly by double click, you can just change the file type association, which can be done in many ways.

1. Right click the .xps file->open with-> choose program-> choose IE. You can check “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file”, then click OK. If you don’t see “open with”, you can use SHIFT+right click.

This can also be done by changing the file type association in the folder options, which can be seen in “my computer->Tools->folder options”, or from menu of any folder. Click File types, find xps, click “change” for “open with”.

2. If your IE is not visible in the list, you can’t find it whatsoever, then you can choose to change the file type association in the registry.

Open registry by running “regedit” and find the key at

Double click the key and change the value data to:
“c:\Program files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe” “%1”

Virus: autorun.inf and csrxx.exe (Worm:Win32/Hamweq.BW)

One computer got this virus the other day from a USB drive.

We got autorun.inf in the flash drive and c:\recycler\s-1-5-21-1482476501-1644491937-682003330-1013\csrxx.exe which are created by the virus.

More details about this virus could be read here:

We tried the Norton Antivirus with latest database, Symentec Endpoint Protection with latest database. Norton found the virus and tried to remove it, but it showed “Quarantine Failed”, “Clean failed”.

Then I tried Kapersky, it did the work.

30 day trial is fine.

Kaspersky AntiVirus Blocks Internet (IE and Firefox)

I installed Kaspersky on one computer. I didn’t have any problem browsing internet. But with another computer, I can’t go to any website with either IE or firefox.

The solution is the following:
Go to “Settings” -> “Options” -> “Network”, choose “Monitor selected ports only” then click “Select” and In the list to “Monitor all ports for specified applications”, uncheck IE and firefox. Or if you want, you can also uncheck “Monitor all ports for specified applications”. Click OK. That’s it.

crack windows admin password

OP here:

1. Windows XP Privilege Escalation Exploit

Here are the steps involved to Hack the Window XP Administrator Password (Windows Server 2003 Domain Admin password).

  1. Go to Start –> Run –> Type in CMD
  2. You will get a command prompt. Enter these commands the way it is given
  3. cd\
  4. cd\ windows\system32
  5. mkdir temphack
  6. copy logon.scr temphack\logon.scr
  7. copy cmd.exe temphack\cmd.exe
  8. del logon.scr
  9. rename cmd.exe logon.scr
  10. exit

Wait its not over read the rest to find out how to Hack the Window XP Administrator Password
A Brief explanation of what you are currently doing here is

Your are nagivating to the windows system Directory where the system files are stored. Next your creating a temporary directory called mkdir. After which you are copying or backing up the logon.scr and cmd.exe files into the mkdir then you are deleting the logon.scr file and renaming cmd.exe file to logon.scr.

So basically you are telling windows is to backup the command program and the screen saver file. Then we edited the settings so when windows loads the screen saver, we will get an unprotected dos prompt without logging in. When this appears enter this command

net user password

Example: If the admin user name is clazh and you want change the password to pass Then type in the following command

net user administrator pass

This will chang the admin password to pass.
Thats it you have sucessfully hacked the Window XP Administrator Password now you can Log in, using the hacked Window XP Administrator Password and do whatever you want to do.

Here are the steps involved to De Hack or restore the Window XP Administrator Passwordto cover your tracks.

  1. Go to Start –> Run –> Type in CMD
  2. You will get a command prompt. Enter these commands the way it is given
  3. cd\
  4. cd\ windows\system32\temphack
  5. copy logon.scr C:\windows\system32\logon.scr
  6. copy cmd.exe C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
  7. exit

Or simply go to C:\windows\system32\temphack and copy the contents of temphack back into system32 directory click Yes to overwrite the modified files.

Note To administrators: You can block the entire password change thing just a little tweak in the local security policy (control panel->administrative tools, works only for administrators group) will disallow any change in password even if u r the Admin (u can put a number of other restrictions too), but be cautious to give other users limitted accounts. After you have done this, the above Screensaver technique will fail.

Update: The Above method is is possible only if you have Local Administrator Privileges. My fault for not checking it up before posting.

Update: The above Method only works if the system is FAT/FAT32 – because of the updated “user rights management” in NTFS – file level rights etc. This does not work on a system using NTFS.

2. Hack Or Crack A Windows XP Administrator Password Using OphCrack

Ophcrack is a Windows password cracker based on rainbow tables. It is a very efficient implementation of rainbow tables done by the inventors of the method. It comes with a GTK+ Graphical User Interface and runs on Windows, Mac OS X (Intel CPU) as well as on Linux.

Go to Ophcrack and download the live CD burn it to a disk and boot with it. It will depend on how strong the password is.

3. Recover The Password Using DreamPackPL

Steps to Hack into a Windows XP Computer without changing password:

  1. Get physical access to the machine. Remember that it must have a CD or DVD drive.
  2. Download DreamPackPL http://www.d–
  3. Unzip the downloaded and you’ll get dreampackpl.ISO.
  4. Use any burning program that can burn ISO images.
  5. After you have the disk, boot from the CD or DVD drive. You will see Windows 2000 Setup and it will load some files.
  6. Press “R” to install DreamPackPL.
  7. Press “C” to install DreamPackPL by using the recovery console.
  8. Select the Windows installation that is currently on the computer (Normally is “1? if you only have one Windows installed)
  9. Backup your original sfcfiles.dll by typing: “ren C:\Windows\System32\sfcfiles.dll sfcfiles.lld” (without quotes)
  10. Copy the hacked file from CD to system32 folder. Type: “copy D:\i386\pinball.ex_ C:\Windows\System32\sfcfiles.dll” (without quotes and assuming your CD drive is D:)
  11. Type “exit”, take out disk and reboot.
  12. In the password field, type “dreamon” (without quotes) and DreamPack menu will appear.
  13. Click the top graphic on the DreamPack menu and you will get a menu popup.
  14. Go to commands and enable the options and enable the god command.
  15. Type “god” in the password field to get in Windows.

You can also go to Passwords and select “Logon with wrong password and hash”. This option allows you to login with ANY password.

Note: If you are running any kind of Anti-Virus Tool it will give you a prompt saying that it is a Virus since they have already labelled this tool as a Hack-Tool. A Hack-Tool is NOT a virus. The DreamPackPL helps you bypass the Windows Login screen and it is not destructive.

4. Recover All Windows Password Including Vista With Login Recovery

Another ways from here.

5. Offline NT Password and Registry Editor – This is a very small program, only 3MB in size, that you can burn to a CD and boot to. It’ll auto-detect the Windows installation and the account names (that is if everything was installed in the default Windows directories). Using this program you can reset or blank out a Windows password, which means it doesn’t matter how long or complicated it is. I tried this program on Vista and it would not load afterwards, so definitely only use for Windows XP or earlier!

6. John The Ripper – Another free password cracker that works on Windows, Linux and Macs, so it’s useful for any Mac or Linux user who wants to recovery a password. Pretty easy to use and comes with good instructions, so most people can follow along.

7. Knoppix STD – G4TV has a good article on another Linux distro you can download and use to crack your Windows password. Follow the detailed instructions he gives and if the password is not too long or difficult, it should be able to crack it!
